water leaking inside passenger floor?

So after taking apart the AC firewall box to reseal it, I think I discovered how the water was getting in-there is a seam/lip just above the blower motor where water trickles down from the hinge area and rests/collects under the heater core hoses. When I took the AC enclosure off, I noticed the foam gasket that seals the inlet/outlets on the heater core had not only "shrunk", but there was a gap allowing water to get into the cab area. I am wondering if this was the water issue that would trickle inside from time to time? The area was damp and kinda dirty-grimey too. I did find a good foam seal at the boneyard and I siliconed it around the heater core slightly also just to make sure. Anybody else have that kind of issue? I should mention the entire seal around the enclosure was suspect also.....dryrotted and cracked.

Re: water leaking inside passenger floor?

Also drip rails, cowl seams and antenna hole will let water in...

Re: water leaking inside passenger floor?

on the 73-87 the non ac cabs have issues with the under dash vents leaking on the lower kick panels and the door seals allow water in

Re: water leaking inside passenger floor?

You know.....there is a goofy little rust spot that's kinda scabby where the kick panel meets the firewall....not sure where that comes from tho....does the water travel along the hinge on the cowl and trickle down?

Yup. You can buy the seal from lmc for about $8.00
