Vacuum gauge
Can someone tell me what years / models / engines the vacuum gauge was available on? The reason I ask is that I scored a gauge cluster out of a '68 C-60 this weekend that had a factory tach and vacuum gauge (paid $10 from the local junk yard!). All of the gauges are in great shape, and I'd like to use the vacuum gauge if it were an option on a '69 C-10 350. Thanks all....

I cannot find any information that the vacuum gauge was optional for 10-30 series trucks. I think they were used for the hydra-vac heavy duty brakes on 40-60 series.

No, it wasn't an option for the 10-30 series trucks, but it is becoming a real popular conversion to have the vacuum guage installed. I would install the tach and the vacuum guage if I had them!!

I'm seeing more people install the Vac gauges. Hard to tell, but I know of a dealer locally that has them from time to time and claims they are stock.

There stock.. no doubt about it.. just it is stock in a c40 and up thats all, that had that type of brake system.

Just remember to swap out the bezel with a replacement, and it'll bolt right into your pick up. Who cares if it was stock in a C/10...if you want it, (and it sounds liek you do) then slap it in there.

I built my speedwarning- tach- vacuum cluster to put in my light duty trucks. Looks good regardless.

the cluster will bolt right in, as long as the steering wheel plate at the bottom isn't cut out funny like on the big rigs, and the two idiot lights on the bottom of the gas guage say different things

I remember someone selling a regular gauge cluster that had a big, funky lookin vac gauge in the tach spot, claimed it was a dealer add on.

Thanks all...I'm definitely going to add it in; its a very easy swap; just plumb a line to the intake or base of the carb somewhere. A friend of mine with a '71 F*rd F-100 Explorer 4x4 has one on his truck, as well as an auto meter tach that are WAY old school; not original by any means, but probably '71 vintage. The vacuum gauge is called an Econo-meter, and has yellow, green and red segments behind the needle; apparently very popular back in the day for monitoring fuel mileage.
