I am wanting to coat with POR15 and then get some extra support welded on the inside of the framerail and then replace the crossmember. My dad gave me truck so sentemental reasons make me not want to swap frames.

Do you think that the above would be enough or do I need more intensive strengthening?

I dunno, doesn't look very good. Hit it w/ a hammer and stab it w/ a sharp screwdriver a few times. Almost looks like the screwdriver might carry right on thru.

I know I made the holes with my nuclkes just pinging on it. I was thinking kinda doing a C section on the inside of the frame to strengthen it or maybe boxing it.

I have a spare frame but just holding out some hope.

Well, its a pretty serious area. My ex-girlfriend's father had something happen to him one day. He was pulling his 67 Bel Air out of the driveway and his car broke in half! Yes, both frame rails broke and the middle of the car hit the road. You need solid metal under you, nuf said.

The front sheetmetal and doors have been replaced by my dad. He gave me a real good bed to put on it and when I took the old one off it was like that. The bed floor was real bad and the floor pieces were sittigf in big lumps along the rails where the rusted spots are.

THe deal is I am in Texas and never have seen anything like it before. The cab floor is pretty good some rust but not too bad.

change that frame before ya get hurt drivin it you can still keep the old frame around but get it out from under that truck

Shane, if your deal on the frame falls through, I have 2 short wheel base frames in Ft Worth. I'll take care of you on one of them.

Don't you have a new baby due real soon? Her life is worth more than sentimental attachment to a frame.

You can cut corners in many areas on a truck, but a frame is the absolutely key part to the whole thing. I understdand sentimental value, but swap that thing.
