Need to install new gas tank - help
Hey guys im tired of the gas fumes in the cab and I just found that the tank is leaking in a few places along the bottom crimp, especially on the pass side corner. THInking to order a new one from classic parts for 144 bucks. Can you tell me is it necessary to also seal the inside with gas tank sealer? I was hoping not to do this and just to install the new tank as-is. Let me know and also if you have any other tips or useful info regarding installing a new tank.
Regards, Mark |

No. You don't want to seal a new tank. The sealer is for old tanks. If a new one is available its better to use that then patchng up an old one. You will want to get a set of hoses that connect the fill tube & vent tube.

This is what I am thinking. I would build a frame that swings down with the pivot at the front and bolted at the rear . that way I could get to the bottom of the bed/tank if somthing needs attension. Last edited by mknittle; 11-11-2012 at 12:06 PM. |
