Help on 4x4 front cross member

Previous owner did some butcher work when doing a motor swap. Made there own pads/mounts etc.

Since I now need to pull the motor, I am going to fix this while its out. I already have the motor towers, but not sure which is which(left/right). I also feel the cross member that is right under the crank balancer is not the right one for the truck even if it was in the right spot.

I was wondering if someone could provide me with some decent pictures of a front cross member with motor towers for me to inspect (or link me to an existing posting that would have good pics).

Also, assuming this is the incorrect cross member, I will need to change it. I am wondering if anyone has made one, which the section under the motor is removable incase you need to drop the pan for any reason? If so, can you provide pics of what you did please.

ok, looks like I have the 2wd motor towers, not the 4x4 ones.

Anyone done a removable front cross member?

Is this on your 72 jimmy? Some pictures would be useful.

DIY4X makes crossmembers if this is the type of thing that you are looking for. I think that they have a new design with a center section that drops out like you were alluding to.
