Re: Interesting finds

not my car, but .. I was dispatched to an accident where an old couple had been rear ended pretty hard. No injuries in either car fortunately. When the wrecker driver moved their car there were 6 or 7 of those magnetic key holders on the street. I picked 'em up and gave them to the old lady. She told me that her husband kept having keys made and forgetting where he hid those little holders under the car. Hate to admit that I've probably lost that many "spare keys" under my cars & trucks in the 20-25yrs. since that day.

Re: Interesting finds

My green '68 was packed full of treasure.

A BB gun pistol-one of the good ones that look just like a real one

A couple of old gasket kits-odd, because they seem to be for the 216/235's, and this truck has a 250 in it:

An NOS fuel pump, still in the box, complete with receipt:

All wrapped up in a piece of sheet, several spare V-belts:

And, of course, the required assortment of old cassettes:

Lol. When I was a kid, I had that same BB gun, and those same blank cassettes for recording songs off the radio. Of course, you could record over the country ones if you put the obligatory piece of tape over the square holes on the edge lmao.

I think the last time your truck was cleaned out, it was about 1984

Re: Interesting finds

These old vehicles can be rolling time capsules. Sounds weird but sometimes I like to see what is in some of these old trucks at the junk yard. You find some crazy stuff every once and a while. Like my brother says every one these vehicles have a story it's kind of depressing to see them rott away.

Re: Interesting finds

3 1968 dimes (same year as my truck) and a bunch of hay in my gas tank. oh and 3 seat covers that were all put on over each other on my bench seat including the original seat cover and tons of dirt. i dont think the interior was ever wiped down once in its life. the dust was so thick on the sun visors that the po wrote his last name in the dust

Re: Interesting finds

I don't quite know how to do this with any decorum....I'll try.

Not a truck, but I went to pick up a 924S Porsche I bought from a friend about 300 miles from my house. The little car was for my wife of then about
30 years (now 40) to drive as a daily driver.

I took the liberty of making a solo weekend out of it, and spent almost three days with my buddy (the seller of the car) and his family in my old home town.

My woman's a clean freak. So, on the way home, while I was putting gas in the ride, I spotted "something" peeking out from under the passenger's seat.
I went to grab it and....Well. Let's just say that it was a wrapper from an item that might be passed out at a Planned Parenthood meeting.

Now, that was bad enough. And I'm not going to take it any further to explain what other (used) related item I found very near that wrapper.
I'm already getting sick thinking about it. But, it made little sense to me, knowing my buddy, his wife and family as long as I had (20 + years at the time).
It just didn't seem to be an item that would be "in their wheelhouse".

Then, through some immediate discovery with the help on my buddy, I found out that the town drunk, to whom I had given several jobs while I was a shop-keeper in the area,
had seen me thru the window at my pal's place, knew I was buying the car, and delivered the "goods" under the seat. And under the cover of darkness. Some sort of dark "diss"
I guess, for not looking him up while I was in town...I don't know.

I DO know that had my wife found those little traps, I'd "...have lots of 'splainin' to do, Lucy!" I called the guy from the gas station and got thru.
Unfortunately, I didn't "get through" to him. He just laughed. Told me what I saw wasn't the "real deal"....

Now, I have a pretty open sense of humor. But, right then, this wasn't funny. I told the guy to apologize after I explained how it's hard enough
to build trust in a relationship with a spouse without confronting roadblocks like his little jest. He just laughed.

I cautioned that without him at least making me aware that he *knew* the risk that he'd created for me, we were done....He laughed.
I never talked to him again. He's dead.

And, of course, it's pretty funny now.
Given that it turned out the way it did......
