Anyone running a ZZ502 motor?
I've ordered my ZZ502 and a built 4L80E to go behind it. How does the 502 perform in these truck?
Does anyone have a video? |

I have one, nearly stock and have run 11.53 in a 3800lb truck. I cleaned the heads up and fitted roller rockers. Slicks were used!

That's a pretty good time for a heavy vehicle. Do you have any videos of the truck?

Sorry no videos, it used to bounce on the launch but I've just fitted coilovers which has tamed it. Time to fit the solid roller cam!

man that'd be awesome to be able to just 'order' one!
its still a great motor, lots of torque, lots of room to play around with and make more power! |

I am really excited about this motor because it has a forged bottom end. I could put a super charger on it or spray it in the future. I want to see how it does on its own for a little while. |

They are good value for the money, even after shipping it across the atlantic and paying 20% tax.

If you bought the "deluxe" version and depending on what converter you have, check the flex plate. My 4l80E came with a 6 bolt converter and the flex plate that came with the motor had 6 bolt holes for the converter, however, only 3 holes in the flex plate lined up with the converter, so you may want to check it out before you mate the motor to the trans. All you have to do is mash the gas and it will make you smile! Sorry...no video. |

Re: Anyone running a ZZ502 motor?
A friend of mine had a 72 swb with the 450 H.P/ 502 steel headed version, he swapped in a solid roller cam, victor intake, 950 h.p holley, hooker super comp headers, built 350 turbo, stock 12 bolt rear with locker and 4.11 gears.
This truck ran consistent 11.60's-11.70's with slicks on the motor and 10.20's with a nos big shot plate.
