Re: Isn't the rear view mirror on a '69 supposed to attach to the roof?

If I was given a choice I would want the windshield mounted mirror. My roof mounted mirror mkes a huge blind spot right in the middle of my windshield. I've pulled out right in front of a few cars I didn't see.

Re: Isn't the rear view mirror on a '69 supposed to attach to the roof?

IIRC the RPO DG5 optioned trucks I have encountered and several Longhorns did not have an inside rear view mirror. As they would have been C-K20s or C30s this matrix seems correct. The literature indicates standard equipment (04 & 34) as follows.
67 LH outside and inside 10"
68 LH & RH outside only
69 LH & RH outside, inside on C-K10 only
70 LH & RH outside, inside on C-K10 only
71 LH & RH outside, inside on C-K10 only
72 LH & RH outside and inside 10"

I'm curious to see a picture of the roof where the missing holes are. I have the roof mount and mirror and was considering removing it.

Re: Isn't the rear view mirror on a '69 supposed to attach to the roof?

OK, not to hijack the thread- but can someone tell me if they have drilled the three holes to mount the factory bracket? And if so, what size drill bit? My truck came with no mirror or factory holes. I picked up a bracket and mirror today at the junkyard that I would like to install. (actually, the mirror was crap but I found a mirror in a 70 impala that worked- I just love scrounging around the junkyard!)
