Death of a good truck

Hated to see this truck sent to the wrecking yard due to a faulty 283. I bought the fenders, doors, grille, and REALLY REALLY good tailgate. Someone had already bought the bed that was said to have zero dents. Based upon the tailgate and the the front, it sounds believable. There was some rust at the bottom of the fenders, but no dents behind the paint on the fenders or doors that I could see from the back side and inside. Perfect windshield, seat with no rips in it, just disappointing to me, but I bough the parts because someone is going to. I don't know if I will use any of them!

WOW, that is unbelieveable that someone hauled that nice truck to the wrecking yard. I'm sure there are several guys here that would have paid a fair price for a truck that nice to build, me included. Apparently to the PO it was 'just an old truck'

Re: Death of a good truck

I asked if it could be sold before I stripped it, and I was told no. PO took it in and then the yard tried to sell it for $1700 for five months. But I dont think they advertised it and they kept it behind a building in the yard. I was thinking they could have sold it cheaper and advertised it. I was shocked to find that tailgate in such good condition. Guy that took the bed said he didnt need it. Still has great inner fenders, bumper, grille support, windshield, 3 on the tree column and tranny, seat, a hood, and other items.

Re: Death of a good truck

What a shame. On the other hand nice to see so many cherry parts going back into circulation. It could have been worse, it could have been crushed.

Re: Death of a good truck

Man...hate to see another 63 go, bt I agree w/Marbeb01...at least some OEM parts will make it to some other trucks. Even the hood looks decent.

Re: Death of a good truck

Sad thing is, I would have paid the 1700 for complete truck in a heartbeat, paid another 800 to ship to Ohio, and still coulda sold it as-is for a profit around this part of Ohio....all day.
