Long water pump
I have the 9" long water pump on my 350. This engine will be moved up to the factory V8 location and I will be installing a 4 core rad as well. Will I have any problems with the clutch fan being to close to the rad or possibly hitting the rad?

Long water pump and accessories work best in the I-6 position...If thats what you have I would not move it unless you are going to change over to the short waterpump stuff

I run a long water pump in the stock V8 location, and I use a clutch fan. It sits deep in the shroud, and you can't use a spacer, but it works pretty well. It sure is a pain to get new belts on, etc. Not a lot of room in the front of the motor.
When I changed the engine mounts (which is how I knew it sat in the stock location - mounts have never been changed) I had a HELL of a time getting it to sit right, and I had to end up adjusting the shroud so the fan wouldn't hit it. I'll be swapping over to a short water pump later on so I can get a better setup.

would switching to an electric fan help eliminate this problem?

I have a long water pump in the V8 location with a clutch fan with no problems. I did have to cut a little bit off the shroud to get the fan to sit half way in.

Well, there really isn't a "problem" per-se. I mean it will work just fine assuming you're not using some big-ass fan, and your shroud is set up right. Since I adjusted mine all I have to do is lean on the shroud while the engine is running and...
BAP BAP BAP!
