63 on a 77 frame with a 3 inch lift, 33 inch mud terrains
350 target master bored .40 over with flat tops and cam
soon to have 3/4 ton axles with 4.10s and maybe 35s

IMO it's ok on a 4x but on a 2wd it doesn't look too good with the body lift. I did a 2wd years ago, but I don't have any good pics. I'm trying to get a hold of the current owner to get some pics since this question comes up quite frequently.

Here is what I got so far. Haven't had time to work on it lately. 64 going on a 84 4x4 chassis. Glad to see your tire lift combo. My bed is just sitting there. Still needs body lift.

could any of you take a picture and post it of how you mounted the front of the cab, i have some ideas but i want it to look clean just looking for some ideas.
for the rear of my cab i just cut off the old mounts then flipped them to the outside and trimmed them up a but and re mounted them ahead a couple inches.

Hey 63shortbox - I'm just getting ready to do this for my son; 1964 LWB on a 1980. Was it fairly simple? What did you do about the gas tank(s)? Cheers.

hey skidder111, it was pretty easy, ill take some pictures of the mounts when i get it all done, im going either to put a fuel cell in the box or a tank out of a blazer between the frame rails in the back

Nice work guys! I believe my 64 flatbed's frame is a graft between a newer frame in the rear because it has leafs and I can see where some metal plates were added just behind the cab.
You guys who swapped older bodies on to newer frames, did you have any issues with the steering shaft or anything else?

I haven't done the measurements, but the '73 to 90? suburban frame has the kick up further back and MIGHT work better

Any luck on getting the cab mounted ? I will be working on mine this weekend. 65 on 77 frame. I have the front cab mounts and one of the back done. I'll try and post some pictures later this weekend. I am trying to keep the body of the truck as close to the frame as possible because I want to use a roll pan on the back and if I have too much body lift it will show the frame. Any pictures or ideas of any swaps would be awesome..

Here are a couple pics I found of the one I did many years ago.....they're not the best pics. To give you an idea on the ride height, those tires are 31-10.50/15's. As I've said many times, I don't recommend this swap for a 2wd truck, unless you like the lifted 2wd look. Unless your original frame is totaled, just swap the suspension and drivetrain from the newer truck to the older frame that fits the body correctly. Another thing to consider is how your state/local DMV views a swap like this. It would suck to go thru all that work only to be denied a license or title upon an inspection.

agreed with that captain, the frames are a bit different. when i first did this i sat the buban down on the frame and there was about 3" of space between frame and chassis along the front half to front bumper.
so i changed it by cutting the frame in half just behind where the front seats are (aprox), and raised the frame up to match..
much better now! now there is no clearance between the front fender wells to frame area. the front frame horns now fit right under the core support where bumper fits.
now this is a 4x4, and i'm going to build full cage to frame for "body mounts". but doing this a 2wd is crazy time. its much easier to modify frame to accept what ever suspension you may want to use
