Ideas for cleaning up/replacing center caps?
What are my options for the center of the wheel, if I want to keep these wheels? Do they make some sort of center cap that installs? If not, what can I do clean it up? Paint it?

Re: Ideas for cleaning up/replacing center caps?
Here's an 88-98 8-lug center cap and trim ring on a steel wheel. I don't know, but maybe someone will know if those centers will work on your truck. They may not, but again they might. I was thinking about the trim rings for my Wheel Vintique 16x7's, but there is an ad on the 88-98 parts page if you're interested....they're in WA, so shipping would be less for you, than me.

Re: Ideas for cleaning up/replacing center caps?
Look like the same wheel I had on my 02 4x4 2500, they did come with caps kinda like he posted pix of but you will need lugs nut with threads on the outside for the caps plastic lugs to screw to.
I vote for a set of white wagon wheels, they look great with the blue and white truck like yours. Posted via Mobile Device |

Probably a white steel wheel with a dogdish style of center cap.

Re: Ideas for cleaning up/replacing center caps?
if you want the factory cap on there - here ya go:
#CHVC31 (1st cap in the row that is third from the bottom) http://www.hubcaps.org/chevtruck.html Or - can go to the local junkyard and find em in spades - came on 2000's chev 3/4 tonners. Don't know the EXACT year span, but it's at least 01-06, possibly 99-06, and 07+ would likely fit but may look a bit different cosmetically. I'm not certain chevloray's would fit since they are for steel wheels, but they certainly might and I really like the look of them even better. Pic is from an 02 2500HD. |

Re: Ideas for cleaning up/replacing center caps?
here is what your truck would have come with originally (or at least close) - this example is the 16.5" variety (a few different widths were available) - note the "bulging" center section of the cap, this indicates it's a 3/4 tonner for pre-73 trucks (or you could measure it's diameter if you had a ruler in person, bigger than the 1/2 ton caps). SPID code would be P03:
EDIT: Btw, the hubcaps.com place does NOT have the original polished 69-72 3/4 ton caps that they list on their site - trust me, I've called several times. They've been out for years. But they did have the nice restored white ones last time I talked to them. |

Re: Ideas for cleaning up/replacing center caps?
I would also check ebay, seems you can get stock center caps cheap on there, especially if they're from a really common wheel.

Re: Ideas for cleaning up/replacing center caps?
I bought these. Genuine GM and brand new.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/170775505907...84.m1423.l2649 Also, the older caps in post #2 above will not fit your wheels properly, nor will the van and steel wheel caps made from 2001-2006 which appear nearly identical to those in the eBay link I attached to this post. The dual thread conversion lug nuts with the non-metric 1/2" or 9/16" threads are also available on eBay. Last edited by FirstOwner69; 11-14-2012 at 12:21 PM. |

Re: Ideas for cleaning up/replacing center caps?
You are going to need a dually cap for the rears. I had a pair of the same type GMC wheels and the standard cap would not fit.

Do you have a picture of dually caps installed? How do you get them to fit properly? |
