Fuel Pump Bolts
Do I need hardened or certain grade bolts to mount the mechanical fuel pump on my small block 350?
Just replaced the fuel pump on my 72 C/10 with 350. Thanks for the tips from the board, the long bolt to hold the push rod trick worked great! There were allen-head socket cap bolts holding the old pump on. One bolt was longer, with about 6 lock washers as shims/spacers. I figured I'd replace those bolts with some 3/8" stainless steel hex cap bolts. Well, the stainless bolts I had were too short or too long. I ended up using regular standard bolts that were the proper length. So, what type of 3/8" bolt would be correct and/or recommended to mount the fuel pump to block? |

Re: Fuel Pump Bolts
A fuel pump doesn't put any strain on the bolts... regular bolts are fine.

Re: Fuel Pump Bolts
Thanks for the reply!
My concern was about heat cycles and pressure from the fuel pump lever. I'd hate to snap a mounting bolt. |
