Strange Bumper Guard
I bought this truck a little over a year ago and everything is stock on the truck but this bumper guard. I'm not sure what it came off of or whether it's an aftermarket bumper guard. Anyone have a clue?

Re: Strange Bumper Guard
That's a (not a chevy, but close) late 40 to early 50 ish passenger car trunk or grill guard.

Re: Strange Bumper Guard
The post on the left where it bolts to the bumper is tad bit larger than the post on the right but they have the same design. I googled image the (ford, chevy, Olds, & Buick) 50's cars but found nothing.

Re: Strange Bumper Guard
LOL...I dunno man! I have it off the truck now as you can see in my avatar. It might look better if it's re-chromed. I have a chrome grill that is slightly distressed that I plan on swapping out with my current patina grill. I will probably hold it up there at that time and see how she looks. It's different!

Re: Strange Bumper Guard
Thats cool. Could you take a grinder to it to make it fit like it should and then have it rechromed?

Re: Strange Bumper Guard
Honestly, I didn't notice there difference in the posts until I took it off. I'm sure I could do a little fab work to it before having it rechromed if needed. I was thinking about putting some CLR on it and see how much rust it would take off.

Re: Strange Bumper Guard
grinder with sandpaper wheel, take it down to bare metal then clear coat the thing. Did that with an old dodge bumper that a moron had painted and it turned out looking good. Then if you have the $ for chrome have it bead blasted then chromed.
