1st I'll say I like the way my GMC grille looks and would never turn it into a Chevy(I like those too but see no need to change)

However thinking about buying a new one or rechroming the current one is way out of my price range for this project. Thinking about trying something custom till I can afford that.

Any pics ?

I have often thought about taking a billit grille out of a F250 and mounting it in place of the center grille on mine. They appear to be about the same dimensions. Try it and let me know how it turns out

Having a GMC myself, I've paid special attention to what others are doing to their grills. Most people just paint different parts different colors. The first pic is a Foose design done on Overhaulin' (I think it looks like crap)

That black on black looks awesome ! The Foose truck is nice but the grille
just didn't work. The idea could work but that one didn't IMO.
as much as I hate to say it a modified Chevy hood would have been better. More color less chrome?

Maybe thin horizontal bars or tubes if you can put some of the original shape in them so they don't look lik flat straight bars in the grill.

Just found 3 sticks of SS pipe that may end up as a grille until I can afford to redo the original. We'll see. Until then enjoy a comedy photoshop by our own

I have to agree! I have a 53 GMC and, honestly, I love the original grill and can't imagine doing anything custom! Well, I did think about the spider web thing that I've seen but that was short lived! My original grill is kinda beat so I"m going to try and straighten it and just black it out for now. LMC make a replacement that looks nice but at 400 bucks... I think that black will work!

Edit: Actually it might be Brothers Trucks that has the repo grill....

Thinking about doing a custom grille on a '59. I think everything about the '59 is great design, except for the grille and hood ornament (first thing I took off on the truck).

I'm not a fan of a lot of the custom grilles with so many bars running across. I'd like to use three on the larger portion of the opening, two up top. Only problem is I'm not sure how the turn signals are going to fit now. Should I drill through the back and mount them? I think somebody posted a website once of LEDs that could be ordered in various sizes, not sure how those would hold up, though. Any help is appreciated.

So of all the GMC grilles I like the 47 best. Only used in 47 and I believe small part of 48. Big and clunky and truck-like. This one is mine. Hard to find grille parts for though.

I have one of those grilles. we got the truck just for the grille

I think it is the only good body part on the truck
