SAS axle help

I've got a 92 swab 4x4 that Im wanting to do a sas. I've got an axle out of a 99 f250. All the kits say to use a Dana 60 out of an older ford. Can I use the 99 or keep looking?

Re: SAS axle help

biggest issue is the wheel pattern. metric on the ford and hubcentric. outside of that im not sure if the spring spacing is the same. if not then the kits wont work and you would have to fab your own

A f250 uses a dana 50 pass on it its a dana 60 with a dana 44 diff kinda weak. The dana 60 was in the f350 and f450 i think. As far as lug pattern i think you can swap it not real sure search around see what you find.

Re: SAS axle help

Is it a ball joint or kingpin axle?

Re: SAS axle help

Biggest issue is steering. The older 60s had king pins, easy as bolting on a steering arm. The b/j 60s require a new knuckle or machining it so an arm can be bolted. I'd pass and get an older 60. It can be done, but be cheaper, easy and stronger to use an older one. Plus the fact that it uses metric rims. Hardcore wheeling might be an issue, as it does have weaker innards.
