Made some 1/8 pases.

My buddy and I ran mine c10 first time out with a new combo yesterday. I drove to the track mounted slicks and made some passes, 150 miles round trip. It's a 69 long bed c10. Suspension is all stock only updated to stock 72 spindles and autozone shocks, rear suspension is all factory with some old monroe shocks. Stock front and rear coil springs. Pontiac 460, 2.5 exhaust, tci 11" converter 2600rpm but stalls at 3100, th400, 4.10 gears and 29 inch hoosiers. We made 6 passes, place was packed. Best run was 8.049 at 85.10mph. I really wanted to get into 7 but ran out of time and they were runnng fast cars as temp was going down.
What can I do to get into 7 seconds range? Thanks a lot.

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"

Nice reaction time

I think you've already got a 7 second setup considering the mph. Did it spin at all @ 3200 foot braking it? Or did it dead hook?

What RPM were at going through the lights?

Re: Made some 1/8 pases.

Sorry, no vedio. My camera is bad.
I launched of idle most of the time and 1500rpm on the last 2 passes. At 3200 it spined. All runs shifting at 6000 and going in second gear through the lights. I dont remember but i think it was 53-5500 rpm through the lights.

Re: Made some 1/8 pases.

Way to go! Seeing as how I'm a bit partial to Pontiacs, nice ET for such a heavy street vehicle. Regarding dropping another 5 hundredths, there are a lot of factors at play with not much information (you might have been in the 7.90 ET range under different atmospheric conditions, who knows). I would try dropping some weight on the front half of the vehicle - lighter weight front tire/wheel combo, replace the bench seat for lighter bucket seats...something along those lines.

Re: Made some 1/8 pases.

There is a video, from one of my friends. That supercharged jeep got us.

Found a better pic of a truck take off.

Re: Made some 1/8 pases.

8.0 is pretty stout for that heavy truck.

Re: Made some 1/8 pases.

Is the Pontiac 460 a stroked 400? That trucks moving... runs a little bit faster than mine in the eighth!
