Chris's 57 Chevy Project
Welcome to my Project Thread.
A little history, got this truck from my father in law, completely stock, with a dinged rear fender, doors rotted out and no engine. I have never restored a vehicle or know much about it. Been working with Dave from Mobile Hot Rod repair. But trying to learn as much as possible so I can do save some $$$. Enjoy. P.S. Please provide feedback, I am like a sponge trying to get as much information as possible. People on this site are extremely knowledgeable and I would appreciate any help. |

Re: Chris's 57 Chevy Project
Welcome.
It looks like a pretty decent truck to start with. The damage in the photos is pretty easy to fix. The biggest problem looks like the rear fender but they make replacements. I've also seen decent ones at the Pomona swap meet. Kim |

Re: Chris's 57 Chevy Project
Door Alignment, this was in July. (Putting a Camero 10 both in Aug stay tuned, and more alignment work)
Also, looking for a engine, anyone got any ideas? I have none and I don't want to get ripped off because I don't know what I am looking for. Looking on only spending $2000. Maybe later go with a fuel injection. Need to get the engine placed, so the truck can get sand blasted and begin the long road of body preparation. We had some major problems lining up the doors. There appeared to be no accident on the truck, but the doors were off by quite a bit. We adjusted the doors as much as possible, but ended up cutting. Grinding down the welds Last edited by priyeshp; 08-29-2012 at 05:56 PM. Reason: adding more info |

Re: Chris's 57 Chevy Project
You're doing a real nice job.
The doors are a real problem on these trucks . They didn't fit when new and 50 years later they're no better. Everyone that wants nice gaps has to do what you're doing. Kim |

Re: Chris's 57 Chevy Project
If you were not so far away I could sell you a nice setup on engine/tranny.. I've got a 355(scat crank and 6" rods, trw dome pistons all forged, camel hump heads worked over with accessory bolt holes, bracketmaster II cam and springs, edelbrock performer intake, billet accell distributor cap and rotor, bte 3500 10" converter and a th350 recently rebuilt) whole setup has a little over 500 miles on it. I got it in a trade and would let anyone on the board get it for $2,000. I have been advertising it local for $2800

Re: Chris's 57 Chevy Project
nice work, good looking truck.
that looks to be the easiest ifs install on the market, drop in and weld... nice welds, i see that your using flux core wire, most people can't weld sheet metal with flux core that's all i used on mine, 110v lincoln weldpac 100. i've never run out of gas either
