Wiper motor issues

I am having wiper motor issues on my 94 chevy. The fuse is good and when I turn on the wipers I get noise coming from the wiper motor housing but no movement from the wiper blades. I recently tapped into the power wire for my electric choke for my carb on the white wire. The wipers or spray don't work. Could it be under the column somewhere that would be giving me the issue. I checked for voltage at the plug and have voltage at the white (12v) gray (Low) PPL (high). I did not get anything at orange which is the washer motor. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like a bad motor to me.

If the motor is bad should the the washer pump still work? Most likely I will relace the motor and circuit board at the same time.

I've had to replace the wiper motor, washer pump, and the switch in the steering column. The washer pump is a separate unit mounted on a washer reservoir so is not effected by a bad wiper motor. It's also possible that the wiper linkage has failed at the motor connection. You may have to remove the cowl to see the linkage clearly.

I removed the wiper motor today and with it plugged in I can hear noise coming out of it but still no movement. At oreillys for $49 I can get the motor and circuit board. I believe that if i have power at the power wire and for high and low and can hear the motor making nosie but no movement it's going to be the motor/circuit board. Of course thats my thought.

Mine did that, just changed the board and it's all good...

Earlier i connected the motor to the battery and i have high and low. Sure sounds like the board. I will pick one up in the morning after work.

I went out and bought the pulse board but no luck. It still makes the same noise. I am not sure now if to go buy the motor if that will fix it. I thought because I could apply power to the motor from the battery and the high and low worked it would be the board. How could it be the motor if it works directly from the battery?

I figured it out. It was a bad ground. I am now trying to figure out how to set the wiper positions. I never moved the bracket on the motor but the driver side was stopping in the lower 1/3 of the window. I adjusted the bracket that attatches to the motor. I was not able to get the driver side perfect but with that being said now the passenger side is to low now. It appears that there would only be one way to fasten the arms to the bracket on the motor.

It is called "indexing"....that is, getting the motor in the right position and then reconnecting the wiper transmission. What you may try, is to cycle the motor via the switch and let it stop where it should....then, reinstall it into the truck. If the motor stopped at the right place, then it shouldn't be too difficult to see that it should be very close to the right spot to reinstall. I haven't done it before but just trying to use some GM logic.

The wiper motor board on my 95 started to fail intermittently and eventually the wipers stopped working entirely. I took the board off to fix it and found the solder connections cracked on the board (I had to use a magnifying glass to see the cracks). I used a soldering iron to re-melt the connections and re-installed it. Wipers! A board is like $40.00, but it only took a few cents of electricity to get my wipers back.
