Front Suspension Identification
I have a 70 CST that has been converted to front discs. From what I have read it appears to be a 71-72 disc setup. Rotors are 1.25". Could the experts look at the attached pics and confirm that?
Thanks, Frank |

Re: Front Suspension Identification
I'm definitly no expert but if you ask me it looks like 71-72 parts. it looks like they changed the brake hard lines over and put the correct brake line bracket on the front of the crossmember but it also looks like they left the old line bracket on the rear of the cm.
by the looks of everything some would be hard pressed too say any of that has ever been messed with.

Re: Front Suspension Identification
Midniteblues,
I appreciate the response. With the 1.25" rotors and the brake lines on the front of the crossmember and the short rubber hose I thought it was 71-72 parts. I'm thinking the entire crossmember was probably swapped out. In regards to your comments about putting the correct brake line bracket on the front of the crossmember. The 71-72 crossmember would come from the factory like that right? Not sure I see what you mean by leaving the old line bracket on the back of the crossmember. Frank |

Re: Front Suspension Identification
well i could be wrong perhaps the member was swapped out its tough too tell from pics ( and blurred beer vision)
the older cm should have the lines on the rear like my first pic. the 71-72 has the lines on the front like the second pic. what is tough too tell is the bracket right in front of your shock in your second pic. now that i stared at it(without beer vision) it looks like the steering stop (like my third pic) if it doesnt have the line hole in it thats what it is and your member was swapped out looks like they made up brake hard lines also cause it doesnt have sheilding on it. if the member was swapped they shouldve also had too ream this hole in the frame you wouldnt be able too see it if they used a large washer

Re: Front Suspension Identification
Looks just like my 71, which I have currently tore apart. So all the images are very fresh in my mind. I think you are dead on in assuming its a 71 72 set up.

Re: Front Suspension Identification
Looks like someone swapped the entire 71-72 crossmember assembly into your '70.

Re: Front Suspension Identification
lolife99,
Thanks for the reply. I've read your posts on the different options and they were very helpful. I was thinking the complete crossmember had been swapped out. Thanks for confirming. Frank |
