56 3100 drum brakes?

how well do the stock drum brakes work up front? is it really worth swapping over to control arms and disc's or do you guys with drum brakes and straight axles have good stopping power already?

mine doesnt have a motor or trans so i dont know if they are decent or not. just trying to plan ahead.....in my case, it will be awhile

Stock drum brakes all the way around, all new and properly adjusted. Works well. The down hill sections require a little planning as I don't have a brake control wired in for the trailer yet, but unloaded it works well. Sure newer technology works better and If I had 300 hp, performance tires etc i would upgrade to disc.

Properly installed and maintained drums will work good. If you find yourself in a lot of O-Crap moments involving your brakes better spend the money. My 64 Chevelle DD is all drums, I just do not tail gate and drive defensively. You can get a disc kit for your stock front axle.
