Thumbs up Free Transmission up to $1000 (Score !)

My brother-in-law went to a golf thing today and hit (2) golf balls inside a transmission case from 50 yards and won a free transmission up to $1000. He called me and told me if I wanted to get a trans for my truck I could use his winning
Very cool of him!
I put in a request and pricing for a few different transmissions.
I am sure I could pay a litte extra if its more then $1000.

I wonder how I could pay him back?
He sells cars and I always try to recommend people even though he sells fords . But only one person has bought from him and it was a lease.

I hope it all works out I could really use a new trans and get ride of this sm465
I would like to stick with manual, but if I cant find what I want then I may get a nice 700r4. What would be a good manual trans to get, maybe one from a car? I am looking for street performance, not towing of climbing.
Transmission is from Cottman.

Muncie 4sp!!!!! Or a ST10 4sp. For a $1000 I don't think you can get a GOOD 5 or 6sp manual tranny. Its messed up manuals cost more IMO. If you must go auto, go with the 2004R eddie not the 700R4. Its a much better trans.

4L80E for sure but I bet the $1000 wouldn't come close to the price. I would get the 700r4 for an auto.

On returning the favor I would sell your old tranny and give the proceeds to him. Also maybe give him a gift certificate to a nice restraunt and a hotel for him and your sister.

4L80E is TH-400 overdrive with computer controlled shifts. The transmission itself would be about little over 1000 but its the 800-900 computer that has to go with it that costs.

4L60E is TH700r4 with computer controlled shifts.

Here is another idea get a gearvendors over/under drive thats if the certificate will allow it. Haven't a lot of people switched over to NV5000 or something like that? I doubt a T-5 or T-56 will handle that much power.

You're right but if you have it setup for manual shifting then no computer needed

I am going to try and get a T-10.
I do not know if they have rebuilts or if I can get new.
I am going to call them today after work and get quote.
Ill p/u and install myself.

The Richmond t-10 (1304000072) $1400.

Anyone have any idea what a rebuilt t-10 goes for?
What cars/trucks can they be found in?

Eddie, my muncie M20 just rebuilt cost me $400. I imagine from a shop it would cost around $700. If your going with the T10, get the ST10. Its a much stronger unit.

Can a t-10 or st-10 handle a crate 350 (350 torque advertised)?
The st-10 is rated for 300 torque.

Its all about shock eddie. My M20 is rated les sthen the ST10 I believe and it lasted behind my 430lbs/ft. Just don't do too many 3000rpm clutch drops with slicks on

I'd use the $1000 as a helper to get a Jerico.

The $1000 can only be used for their in stock transmissions.
They have a lot of Muncies from what the guy told me. I have my brother in law talking with the president. Apparently its not up to $1000, but maybe more. He was told free transmission, but another guy was told up to $1000. My brother in law is going to try and get the guy to give me a $1600 Muncie. If he cant get that then we will pay the difference if he will let us. Now what are my options for muncie 4-speeds?
I am going o do some searches now on models and gear ratios. Anything you guys can help with will be appreciated.

OK I know I need a 1-1/8" in put shaft with 10 spline.
But what do I get for output shaft?
26 tooth count?
