I understand. I was just being silly. Besides it was the most god-awful combination I could come up with on short notice....

No - you could get it on any trim level.

Part of the paint scheme was the deletion of the adhesive moldings.

Re: Are these rare two tone colors?

I've mentioned this before, in the context of the ZY5 paint scheme, but it might be warranted here, too:

Those stripes originally had a clear masking over them. The secondary color was painted first in the process and then the truck taped off for the particular pattern (using the stripes as the paint break).

The primarly color was sprayed over top of that and the truck dried in the paint ovens. When the truck was unmasked the clear protection came off the top of the stripe too and VIOLA - two tone paint job.

That is 77 chevy sport stripes, but the truck looks like a gmc. Do you have a pic of the spid sticker in the glovebox?

Re: Are these rare two tone colors?

I've got a question for Keith regarding the "ZY6" paint.
if the GM design studio never gave the "Greenlight" on anything that wasn't designed at the studio, why did they finally gave in and why only for 1985 model year?

on another note, i also found these threads useful, i'm trying to find out as much information as possible about my truck.

Re: Are these rare two tone colors?

Here is the free downloadable information packet from the GM Heritage Center archive, for 1985 Chevy pickups:

http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...olet-Truck.pdf

This will give you a ton of background info and specifications relative to your model year pickup.

If you want more info specific to your truck, you can send in the VIN and $50 and they will send you the invoice and pricing for your truck. Details are here:

http://www.gmmediaarchive.com/

I don't recall any reasons why the paint scheme was only used for one year, other than it was not a high runner and not a "maintstream" offering in the portfolio.

Re: Are these rare two tone colors?

wow!! thank you soo much Keith, my truck holds a sentimental value to me, that is why i'm so insistful on gathering more information about it. I didnt get it as a gift or anything like that, i bought it not so long ago but we have gone through alot of though times together. I've been very close to having to sell her because of financial hardships but yet the truck finds a way of staying.
thanks again for the info
