Which way do you turn gas lock ring?
Needing to pull out my gas tank to POR 15 the floor, dynamat.. etc... and I was banging away with a hammer and brass punch but the ring won't budge... Just to make sure I am banging in the right direction, which way takes it off?

If you look very carefully you will notice that the sending unit has stops. Just go the opposite way. Counterclockwise is always the removal procedure.

Forgot to mention... sometimes they're hard to remove. Might want to spray some WD40 and just keep tapping all the way around.

I also go around them in sequence, tapping each one a couple of times and then move to the next one.
