I've found with these trucks, less is more. Lots of time spent removing old add ons

My truck is pretty close to original, but yet I still find myself spending quite a bit of time removing old stuff that a PO installed. Crazy that people spent money and time adding crap like this.

Here's what I've removed in the past month or so:

1. Cloth cover glued to the dashboard
2. "Oven mitten" cloth visor covers
3. 40 year old rusted all the way through aftermarket bed gas tank
4. Odd sized rusted to hell trailer hitch balls
5. Large stickers on both doors that said U.9,000. This was a state requirement something like 30 years ago, and yet they've been there ever since
6. CB radio mount under dash

Here's what I still need to remove:

1. 1970's cheap aftermarket "Audio Barn" tape player
2. Ugly cloth seat cover
3. Glass mount Pep Boys rear view mirror (rear view mirrors were an option in '69), and mine didn't come with one, so someone later installed an after market one. I'm going to install a ceiling mount one.

How many cut, torn, complete and unused exhaust brackets does a truck need? I recently removed the bed and stripped the rear half of the frame down and re-coated while installing a new rear gasket and fluids, c-notch, flipped the rear and added a rear sway bar. I believe I removed about 30 pounds of metal that was mostly the remains of old exhaust brackets, unused wiring. various bolts that were just there and the remains of a couple of fabricated trailer hitches. My point being that what was mentioned in the original post is the removal of those things seen from above while what is below is surprising.

I removed 14!, yes 14, exhaust brackets when doing the same job you just did. Crazy.
