rochestor 1bbl idle needle valve setting

Can anyone tell me the starting point for adjustments of the idle needle valve on my Rochestor 1bbl - 292 in line 6 engine

I've always started at 1-1/2 turns out from seated on all carbs. Not sure what the manual suggests for your 292.

Don't forget the vacuum gauge after it's running. If you are running an original distributor you'll be adjusting it at the same time as the mixture screw.

Just to clarify, I assumed you were asking about the mixture screw. From memory, adjust the idle speed screw to between 500 and 600 rpm and then adjust mixture needle in or out as needed starting at 1-1/2 turns from gently seated. The vacuum gauge will tell when you have hit peak steady vacuum as you adjust.

I agree with 1-1/2 turns as a starting point. Don't forget that the idle will raise as you hit the sweet spot and you'll have to adjust the idle along with the mixture as you close in on the optimum setting.
