slow windshield wipers

so, now that it is raining, the windshield wiper motor seems to be pretty slow. the normal mode seems slow and when switched to the faster mode, there isnt too much of a spped difference. It is faster but not fast enough..... is it the motor or can it be something else... any tips or tricks to make it faster

Re: slow windshield wipers

To try something quick & easy, lube the linkage pivot points just under the slots in the cowl. If that doesn't help, it could be the motor.... aside from swapping to a new motor, I'm not sure how you'd prove that.

You might also try cleaning the electrical connections to the motor. If they're not clean, electrical resistance might cause the motor to run slower.

You also might consider a relay similar to the head light relay upgrade. Just a thought.

Re: slow windshield wipers

Take a good look at where the shafts come through the cowl. I found that mine had shifted slightly and was causing the shaft to rub on the cowl. I readjusted the cowl and gained some clearance and the wipers went back up to normal speed.

My luck wasn't as good as Pritch's. I ended up changing the motor in the White '67.
