electrical question
hi guys we have a 1994 chev truck and we thought the alternator was bad it wasnt charging whitch tells me the alternator was bad but it wasnt it had 2 volts when the multimeter was connected to the alternator positive output lead and the black lead to the case what else is there that would cause the alternator not to charge any ideas please would be great thank you

Check the small wire going to the alternator to see if it has 12 volts on it when the engine is running.

that wire has a fusible link on it right and it goes to battery positve

The alternator should be putting out around 14 volts, with the engine running connect your meter to the battery terminals, red on positive black on negative, it should be between 13.8 & 14.2
