Shaved door emergency entry
I've been having difficulty routing an emergency (Manual) entry cable to my truck. It keeps binding and does not seem to work very well. I tried a couple of configurations with the intent of keeping it hidden but I keep having the binding issue. I'm sure I can run it on the firewall to the right of the M/C but didn't want to go that route. Anyone have any suggestions?
I was also thinking of hiding another powered switch in the grill area. Will I have to run a relay as well?

What remote door kit do you have? The one on my old s10 came with two leads on the end of a long wire, so I could just attach a pair of jumper cables to them and the door would pop. I coiled it up and strapped it inside the frame.

Not sure what door latches that you are using but I just attached a small SS cable and it hangs straight down from the latch. I put a loop in the end of the cabel and it just barely sticks out at the bottom of the door from the weep hole.
I also wired mine so that with my remote I can not only pop the door but also roll down either window. My door popper kit is from Dakota digital. Good luck Marc

I've seen several done like Youngrodder said he did his. It's simple and it works. A guy could use regular welding rod or pick up a length of stainless rod from most welding supply stores to make it out of.
I've caught flack from non car guys looking at my truck because it doesn't have door handles giving me hell because they say an emergency worker wouldn't be able to get in the truck if I were in a wreck. With the suicide doors they will most likely destroy the truck if it came to that anyhow. Some have even claimed that it was illegal as the doors couldn't be opened by someone else from the outside.

bicycle brake cable.
i have 5 shaved latches on my 58 truck; both doors, gas door, trunk and tonneau cover. each one has 3 means of access to unlock them with the exception of the gas door that only has 2. for the doors i ran bicycle brake cable in the sheathing with a brake adjuster fitting on both ends to lock it in place. by locking both ends in place the cable and sheath can run a serpentine route to any where your heart desires. under the hood i just drilled a 5/16 hole in the the firewall and attached the brake fitting through the firewall. here is my door solenoid with the under hood safety cable attached on the solenoid bracket i'm running stock door latches and just have looped ends that slide over the latch mechanism my biggest problem was how to run the bicycle cable, speaker wires, power window wires and solenoid wire thru the door loom without binding. not sure how the ad trucks work for pre-made door looms, but they didn't work for the task force doors. i made my own from 3/4 square tubing, some plate and a roll pin pivot the door looms have worked well for 3 yrs. they slide into a plastic bushing in the door for my redundant safety cable i have a loop of bicycle brake cable in the door handle grip hope this helps, it may not be your plan but it may give you an idea of how to solve your dilemma. i can say this: if you don't do a backup system you will be breaking in to your truck at one point or another. in case of an accident and i am unable/unconscious to open the doors i'm sure the emergency workers know how to break a window out

[/QUOTE] Apparantly their fire trucks do not carry fire axes, hot saws or the jaw of life. I once got trapped in the crawl space (minor cave in). Wife wanted to call the FD, I said no they would have just cut a hole in my hardwood floor. She came down and dug me out.

I got a lot of the same flak. If I can't open my door or crawl out a window, chances are the wreck was bad enough that the jaws of life are needed anyway. If I die because it took them an extra 5 mins to cut me out, well, that's the risk we take LIVING. Plenty of people are killed in cars with regular doors. Stuff happens.

A spring loaded center punch in the glove box is all you need.Its a cheap little tool about the size of a thick ink pen and it will bust out any auto glass side window easy.
