I recently went through this and just used some of the clips that hold inner door latch rods in place. (also used on other areas like throttle rods, choke rods, etc)
Was a bit challenging getting them in but now those rods stay put!

Yes I beleive you guys are right. Guess I just didnt look at the picture clearly enough. I couldnt tell what that was off to the side but now it makes since. thanks
