where to mount shackle hanger braket

I bought a 50 Chevy truck with a 1986 chevy camaro rear end and leaf springs nothing was bolted up yet. So what im asking how do i measure the leaf springs to determine where to mount the rear shackle bracket? Look at the picture do i mount it at the No Tension On Spring red line? Or with Tension On Spring yellow line meaning i jacked up the spring till the lower spring pancaked to the other spring. Hope that made sense
Thanks

Re: where to mount shackle hanger braket

When the spring is loaded the shackle needs to point to the rear. The upper mount needs to be forward of the spring eye. Measure the length of the top leaf through the arch and space the hangers about 2" closer together than that is where i'd start.

I would not set your hanger position until you get the weight of the bed, etc on the springs. With out that, there is no way to determine how flat to springs will be.
