[QUOTE=shoob;5737478]no, just pulled the bumpstop rubbers. will cutting the bumpstop mount effect structural integrity of the LCA?No, they are just tacked on to it.
ill snag some geometry pics today. front tires are 30x9.50, (i know, holy huge tire, and probably one of my main issues) Holy cow, look at the negative camber. Those tires a WAY to BIG for what you are doing

Re: ? cut coils --> coils to inch ratio?
Yep youre gonna eat through the inside edge of tires like no tomorrow unless you swap in longer bolts to get your camber back to spec.

No, they are just tacked on to the lower control arm. Here are a few things you can do to remedy your problem. #1. Change your front tires to something smaller like 245/60/15, 225/70/15 #2. Get another set of springs, either a 2in drop spring or a pair out of the junkyard and cut one round off the bottom wich will give you a 2in spring drop. #3. Install your 2.5in drop spindles(I think you stated you have these). This with the 2in sping drop will give you 4.5-5in total. #4. Cut the bumpstop mount off the lower control arms. #5. Get a front end alignment.

1. looking for tires and wheels now, i dont drive the truck but maybe 2 miles everyweek to the dump (no trash service out here) 2. ok 3.will this make the truck as low or lower than now, ex. a measured 5" drop. 4.ill be doing this tomorrow 5. just did the toe about 30 minutes ago, while forgetting to get geometry pics. so,you guys are saying, if i keep my current spring setup, and throw the spindles on, ill lay the cross member on the ground, maybe not with these larger tires, but when i change to a smaller tire...... gotcha. thanks everyone for their help. ive never lowered a c10 before, only experiance i have is about 10 years ago lifting them, and lowered a few s10 blazers. |

#5. You did it for nothing, you will have to do it again. If you add the spindles with those balloon tires it will probably set the inner fender on the tires, smaller tire will probably set the lower control arms on the ground. Are those 1ton, 3/4 ton, or 1/2ton springs in the CC that are cut 2.5 rounds? My guess is 1ton.

Re: ? cut coils --> coils to inch ratio?
Yes 1 ton's cut 2 like everyother one id dropped. It was 1" tall. Why i was shocked when Shoob cut 2.5 coils. 2 usually works.

Re: ? cut coils --> coils to inch ratio?
from the make it handle thread. cutting more then one coil and you are better off getting soem moog 6102 or grabbing some from a scrap yard and cutting them
Spring rates for stock style C-10's seem high, but this is do to the A-arm ratio. Here are some stock spring rates Moog # 6082 722 lbs/in 6 cyl, and light v-8 Moog # 6542 842 lbs/in std v-8 Moog # 6102 1015 lbs/in bigblock, longbed c.s. Moog # 6104 1016 lbs/in 3/4 ton, sits 1/2" higher than #6102 Moog # 6454 1060 lbs/in 3/4t bbc, c.s, 1ton

Re: ? cut coils --> coils to inch ratio?
Ive always got 1 ton or 3/4 ton coils. And cut till im happy.
I wonder what the spring rate changes as you cut that much. And im considering cherokee coils to get less spring rate and more stored energy for a better launch at the strip. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: ? cut coils --> coils to inch ratio?
Do tell about the Cherokee coils. Wouldn't that be just like using the light duty or 6 cyl coils from our trucks?

Re: ? cut coils --> coils to inch ratio?
makes sence, the truck was originally a 250ci 3-speed, and somewhere along the lines it had a 350/350 dropped in it. i thought the front felt kinda "spongy".

Nothing wrong with big balloon tires or negative camber… |
