Which manual is most helpful?
Which type of manual would be more helpful? Especially when working on the rear differential.

Re: Which manual is most helpful?
Get both.
Both are invaluable to properly maintaining, and restoring these old rigs.

Re: Which manual is most helpful?
Might read up here.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=544915 As I have stated before these are what I think every truck owner should have. Year specific Owner's Handbook Factory Service Manual Factory Overhaul Manual Factory Brochure Also helpful is an "Assembly Manual" (sort of, no index or page numbers) Parts Manual (its like learning a new language and there is an online GM parts wiki to get you started)

Re: Which manual is most helpful?
I was flipping through an assembly manual I purchased, and was wondering what the G or I-X series were?

Re: Which manual is most helpful?
"G"series are vans. Either the eary forward control style or the later classic Chevy van. "I-X series" can't do off the top of my head tonight.

Re: Which manual is most helpful?
IMHO, if your just doing mechanical repair get the overhaul manual first. Once you start a build or a restoration go for the AIM. I would recommend getting the digital version, searchable, you can print out just the pages needed at that time. Much more user friendly than that big old honken tome.
