wilwood dyna lights are they worth it?
I am in the process of building my truck and am thingking baout the brakes. It was a c20 long bed, I shortened and boxed the frame, put a fatman mustang II front end with qa-1 adjustable coilovers under it as well as a 9" under the rear with 4" drop monos, Qa1 adjustable shocks and caltraks, a 550hp 408lsx set abck 4" with a turbo 400. The front end came with brakes but they are just the stock ones and the rear has the factory drums on the 9". I was looking at a set of dynalights from wilwood but one thing that concered me was the hubs are made fo aluminum. It said they were for street use on muscle cars so I would think they would be ok. I am not going to tow or haul anything with this truck it will just be a street rod that gets driven when its nice out. My qeustion is how much weight do they save over stock half ton brakes? and how durable are they?

i wouldnt.
your truck is heavy. your tryin to save 2lbs for what? get some big baer rotors and 6 pistons on there.. |

If i remember right classicperform.com has a kit to use their big brake kit with a mustang 2 spindle and probably have a 9 inch kit.

Did you ever make a decision on what size wheels your going to run? You posted a while back about switching from 15's to 17's. If your sticking with 15's your brake choice is going to be limited. Even 17's will prevent you from running some large multi piston calipers. Choose your wheel size, then squeeze as much brake in there as possible.

I was prob going to run 18"s but i want the have the option of 15"s on the back so if i got to the track I can put slicks on it. the brakes I was looking at would fit over a 15" wheel. I was interested in these brakes because they are about 10lbs lgihter per wheel so that would be 40 less pounds of unsprung and rotating weight which would increase handling, stoping and just all around driveability. I'm not super concerend with stoping power, I mean its a (roughtly) 3400lbs vehicle with a fairly high center of gravity and a lack of anti-sqaut so its not going to stop on a dime. I have to get brakes for the rear anyway and the fronts are just a stock hub rotor assembly with metric chassis calipers and I'm kinda going all out on this truck so I thought I would upgrade the brakes also.
