I still think Nate should have made him a custom "PreMember"

Dino and his buddies build a mean ass truck. Every one of his trucks are top shelf, but the dually is a whole new level.

As with any project, you get those who do it "right" and those that shouldn't have even tried. There was a bagged '66 in Medford a few years ago I went to look at. I was blown away at how sketchy the rear bag setup was. I wanted to call the cops because I would be scared to see it on the road.

The truck I am building is going a lot farther than I took my last build. I know my mechanical limitations and leave the stuff I know I can't/shouldn't do to the experts.

Re: Why????

Damn, that prerunner is awesome. I thought about trying a prerunner setup with my truck, but I'd have to fabricate a lot, and I wasn't sure how well it was going to work off road anyway...

Re: Why????

The more I think about this question I realize a big part of making major changes (of any type) to a vehicle is the pride and personal satisfaction that comes with the successful completion.

I clearly remember the first time I ever did an engine swap. I figured everything out myself and dropped a 283 into a 2 owner cherry 54 Chevy sedan bolted up to the original 3 speed torque tube transmission. The maiden voyage down the street with the hood off, open pipes, and transmission whining was magical. At the time it was the biggest project I had ever undertaken, and I was very pleased with myself that everything worked.

If I were to install a full air ride suspension in my truck tomorrow, I’m pretty sure I’d enjoy the same sense of accomplishment, and savor the realization that it came out nice and I did it myself. I imagine there are a lot of owners that find that gratification reason enough to make whatever kinds of changes they find interesting.

I have to agree with 64fleetside, vanilla ice cream and we would all be fighting over the same woman, to each his own says it best

Re: Why????

Threads like this pop up every once in a while, and they frustrate me everytime. I know I could just close the thread and move on, and I usually do. I must be in a weird mood because today I feel like speaking out.

Why do people feel the need to pick apart or slam other peoples decisions? Just because it is different from what they would have done. I like anything with wheels. If there is something i'm not feeling, I keep my mouth shut. Who am I to judge someone else's work? The only time I say anything is if something is unsafe. There is no excuse for that.

Car shows would be incredibly boring if every vehicle was built the same. What I am saying is if you don't like a particular style, don't build your truck like that. Let others do what they want to do with theirs. If not, put your money where your mouth is and buy all the trucks and save them from the evil customizers

I actually had someone come up to me at a show and give me grief about the changes I have made to my Blazer. Apparently he knew the P.O. and did not approve of my changes. I told him that if he wanted to give me $30,000.00 he could do whatever he wanted to it. I guess it was out of his price range.

Re: Why????

I use to have quite a few early fords and chevs and most of them got dropped axles installed. there were a few times that I had the height of the axle checked. if you had gotten a flat tire, no part of the vehicle was allowed to touch the ground. never got a ticket but was pretty close. I doubt though if that was was ever repealed here. when you are young and foolish you know that you are never going to have anything go wrong. you do realize as you get older that they can and do and you can think of some of these lowered vehicles blowing a tire at 60 or 70 mph. one can imagine the consequences some time and it is no longer cool when someone dies.
I am not against lowered vehicles having done it, but never in the rear . lots of them do not appeal to me aesthetically as the tires and wheels look so out of whack, but that is my opinion. different folks-different strokes
I grew up up with the assdraggers of the 50's with their dingle balls and was never fascinated with the look, always appreciated the look that nice dropped axle gave though
