Re: 59 cab corner

i don't see anything that needs replacing unless the pictures don't show the holes.
i took my stripped cab to have it sand blasted, then primed it with epoxy.
sand blasting will clean the cab nicely and probably cheaper than any means available.
then you will be able to see what needs replacing, what needs patching and what you can live with

Re: 59 cab corner

House paint remover heat gun works good for removing that old under coating. Wifes hair dryer does not get hot enough.... I agree of Ogre, get it to bare metal then use patch panels. In my opinion replacing the complete section with A pillar could lead to problems with the windshield and door gaps even if you build a complete temp brace to keep things from moving. I have never used any of the complete patch panels I got, always kept as much of the original metal as possible.

Re: 59 cab corner

Ogre and Orrie the mess you see isnt undercoating it is weld a mess of it. There are a few holes you cant see in the pictures which is of the drivers side, the passenger side has some weld but there is alot of rot that needs to be removed. Will try and get some better pictures so you can see what I see.

i do agree it is best to keep as much old metal as possible and really dont want to replace the entire pillar I am just not sure I can grind down all the weld and have anything left at all. PO didnt use any type of patch panels that I can see just welded up any holes and really left it a mess.

Thanks for replys I will try grinding and see what is what.
