longbed fleetside to stepside

I have a 76 fleetside longbed that i would like to convert over to a longbed stepside. I found a 71 longbed stepside box.....will this bolt up? any idea if this is a tough project?

It should be the right length as long is it is a 8' bed but you will have to drill new holes in it for the squarebody frame, and you will need to drill new holes for the 73-87 fenders then fell in the old holes. It will probably take a few hours.

Unless you just want to use the existing fenders that are on it. I was also instructed that the bed holes should just bolt right up to the frame.

I was just handed an 87 8' stepside bed and Im pretty sure your 70's would bolt up just fine.

I see yours is a like a utility bed stepside. I wonder if all the compartments would come off and are there wheel fenders underneath them. I would love to have this for my other lwb project.

Re: longbed fleetside to stepside

The city utilities dept. bought the truck as a step side. then took the fenders off and put the boxes on.Dad bought the truck from them around 1990 and they give him the fenders also.

We had the fenders put up and the building where they were at got broke into and they got skint.Well tried to sell them for $50.00 and no one wanted them. They went to scrap about 5 years ago by a druggie.I took about $300.00 of skin from him. They are heavy.Aztec brand boxes.

I like it. Its a cool look but I would still perfer to have the original look for this build.
