55-59 static drop
Can yall show some pics of static drops with the 55-59 body style. I am thinking of dropping mine with a lowered axle. Can you still do the power steering upgrade with a dropped axle?
Heres mine at stock height Thanks, Dave |

Re: 55-59 static drop
I'm not using a drop axle, but I used a somewhat scientific method to determine my ride height. I put a beer can under the step, directly in front of the rear tire. If I crush the can down 25% it will fit under the bottom of the front fender ahead of the door. I'm using coilovers front and rear. I plan to use Google maps to locate speed bumps and plan my trips accordingly. As for the power steering upgrade, I have no idea. Keep in mind, you can get a 2" drop spindle for those drop axles.

Re: 55-59 static drop
Trying not to hi-jack but - Chevette, are drop spindles available for the stock 55-59 axle? Any help on where they're available?

Re: 55-59 static drop
Hmmm...anyone know if these drop spindles work okay with after market disc brake conversion kits?
The other thought that occurs to me is that they may be Chinese made and are castings instead of forged pieces and may be subject to catastrophic failure(?) |

Re: 55-59 static drop
I believe they are described as "Forged Two Piece 2in Drop Spindles".

Re: 55-59 static drop
Beat me to it. They won't work unless you have a 55/57 car front suspension under your truck.
I've seen rumors of dropped spindles for I beam axles but haven't actually see photos of any. A Google search for dropped spindles for I beam axles doesn't bring up any dropped spindle for any model of vehicle with an I beam axle.
