Barn Find
This is a 66 I found in a barn July 1,2011. We worked for three weeks to get safe and presentable for sons wedding July 29,2011.
Replaced the 6 cylinder with a 350 small block removed some dents, replaced the front fenders with new GM fenders that were in box full of spare parts. Smoothed up the body and sprayed the flat black, replace the tires and wheels and started to enjoy. Most fun was teaching young bucks in wedding to operate three on the tree.Clutch survived the wedding laying rubber every chance they had! Lots more to do to get it to FINISHED stage, having too much fun with it the way it is. TIP: Build a project for kids wedding, wife doesn't worry so much about costs as long as you get it DONE! |

Re: Barn Find
Thanks. I am a big fan of the genuine pantina look, if I didn't need to replace the fenders on mine I would have went the same way. VERY COOL! one of my next steps is to lower this one , but I am only going about 3 inches.

Re: Barn Find
What a find....
Welcome.....We urge you to post up some more pictures.... BTW.... I have travelled the Al-Can Hwy 9 times in my years....And I have to say,....Canada has some of the coolest barns in the world. I always have had to fight the urge to pull over and "peek" inside". I think I'll quit fightin' the urge so much.

Re: Barn Find
Nice truck! I'm considering a similar color scheme on mine. Question: what did you use for the flat black? JD Blitz, Hot Rod Flatz, Rustoleum? How much did you use?

Re: Barn Find
Thanks to all for the comments, I wish I had more pics of truck before and during the build. We brought it home and had three weeks to get it ready for the kids wedding so there wasn't much time for taking pics. I have to admitt i was alittle nervous going with the flat black, suppose to be temporary just to make it presetable but everyone seems to like it that way even at shows and cruise nights parked among the nice shinny stuff it draws alot of attention.

Re: Barn Find
Johnny, thanks the paint we used is Advanced Indutrial Coatings part# FPC135FLB and we pretty much used up the gallon. We learned after that we used too much hardener which I think made it more of a satin black finish than flat black which is a good thing I think.

Re: Barn Find
Thanks for the info! Too much hardener, huh? That's an awesome 'mistake' ... That satin finish is perfect.
