CL Find not mine

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/3463087929.html

I think the price is high and the whole title transfer thing is a little odd. But still a sweet project.

Re: CL Find not mine

nothing wrong with the transfer process. he just wants it out of his name before it leaves his property. he may have had a bad experience where someone didn't transfer something he sold and got it in the backside. say that you didn't transfer it and got it running and got in an accident. you could just throw away the transfer papers and it is still his truck- by law. the seller should actually do the transfer. you will never see a car lot give the buyers the transfer papers

Re: CL Find not mine

Here in Cali the seller can take a release of liability to the dmv and be free and clear from any thing comming back to them.

Re: CL Find not mine

yeah - 62 1 ton is correct - I'm thinking this seller doesn't understand how DMV in CA works. Title has nothing to do with liability, only registration does. The SELLER, not the buyer, fills out a release of liability form, available online, within 5 days of the sale and his hands are washed, truck is no longer his responsibility. I did it as the guy was pulling out of my driveway after I sold my truck to him, just in case he was gonna rob a bank on the way home...

as for the price - this is a niche truck. Yes, condition is kinda crap - BUT, it is VERY rare. So, if you want one real bad, you'd be willing to pay. I don't necessarily like them, but they are cool pieces of history. I recall a thread on here a few years back about a salmon colored one of these up in Alaska - imagine how hard it would be to find on eof these that survived up there(!) and the price was equally steep - it was better condition than this one, but I believe the price was around $10K-ish.

Re: CL Find not mine

I almost feel like for 7500 you could built one from two trucks that are in decent shape.

Re: CL Find not mine

I wouldn't give half of that asking price no matter how rare it is. It's really a beat up piece of crap.

Re: CL Find not mine

A bit too far gone for that amount of money but if a guy has the time and the bank balance it certainly is a project.

Re: CL Find not mine

In WA, you used to be able to buy a used car and not fill out the form on the title, then you could resell the car to someone else and they would fill out the purchaser section and the middle owner technically never existed, avoiding sales tax. If the car was not driveable, the liability was usually low but if the car was operational and the middle owner got into an accident with the car, all kinds of trouble for the middle and first owner was bound to happen. Now the state requires the seller to notify the DOL with in 15 days of a sale or big fines....
