Removing Seatbelt Plugs

I have searched a lot around the board on this but I cannot find a definitive answer. My 68 had little flat plugs the the pillars that have been painted over. I am installing 3 point LMC belts and I need to remove these.

Are they threaded? or barbed? They are flat against the metal.

What is the best approach? I don't want to scratch the surrounding paint.

Thanks.

They are "barbed" or ribbed. Use your fingernail to pull one side up, grasp it with some needle nose pliers and pull it off.
