new motor question

Hey guys not sure if any body is gonna have any answers for me but figured I'd ask I have a 98 sb K1500 with a 305 that's got a slight knock and I just picked up a crusader 454 with a stand alone TBI fuel setup on it and was trying to figure out if I can install it in my truck and still have all my gauges and tranny work
If need be I have a TCI tcu unit for the trans but I still want my dash gauges and check engine light to work

Re: new motor question

I would imagine so, there's a wire in the harness you would hook to your dizzy - side for the Trans to work, basically your stock computer would become a standalone for the Trans, and run the 454 however its set up, look into the tbi carb swap stuff to figure out the Trans stuff. As far as the rest of the gauges like volts and oil you would hook it up just like normal. I don't immediately foresee any big issues, but idk how the obd system is going to work out since the computer will have codes set and since you are obd2 and they will scan idk about emissions unless you could scan the stand alone and run the standalone to the engine light rather than stock...

Talking Re: new motor question

Sweet I thought so but I don't have a lot of experience when it comes to fuel injection I'm kinda old school and like carbs but the motor is complete and only has about 400 hrs on it ...... I figured hey if it worked on a boat it should work in my truck lol

Re: new motor question

The only thing I would be worried about is how that Trans is going to hold up behind that big block, especially since marine motors are designed to crank out their power band a little differently than an auto. If the Trans holds it should be a quite fun street truck for sure. I'd love to have a big block in my truck...

I'd swap out my 350 in a heartbeat...

Re: new motor question

As far as the trans I have a 4L80 it's a 2wd tranny but it's a short shaft so all I really need is a t-case in case the lil guy blows up
And I agree it should be fun my 53 is getting the matching motor (i got a pair of these)
