Question Leaf springs only on 71 GMC

Hi guys!! I am new to this site, and so far it's looks awesome!! I just recently purchased a 71 GMC 1500 Super Custom and all I see on the rearend as far as springs are the leaf springs. I thought most trucks came with coils and truck arms? I am new to this truck thing so bare with me. I have been restoring my 66 Chevelle for the past year and thats my specialty right now. I want to lower the truck and want to know the easiest and least expensive method of doing so. I'm not into cutting or heating coil springs either. Oh, I am also a member of the Team Chevelle site as well. Thanks in advance guys!!

Welcome to the board. Yes some of these trucks did come w/ leaf springs. Probably the best bet for lowering would be dropped spindles for the front and blocks and or shackels for the rear. Im sure you will get more replies
