Re: lower standards

Without knowing how low you want to go or what kind of lowering kit you are looking for it's hard to say...I don't have one yet but I have heard lot's of good stuff about ECE's lowering kits.

Re: lower standards

If I am correct on the drop Than you can still go lower in the rear 1-2 inches withouth notch if you do not plan on loading that much. For the front it looks like you will need drop spindals/drop coils which ever or both but will also need to put disc brake up front to work for the spindals. So you could go 5.5" front and 7" in rear. But to me for that drop i rather have airbags. So i could enjoy driving stock height and then slammin it when parked. I can not go with static drop anymore just no fun to drive. haha been there done that.

Re: lower standards

Get the ECE 4/6 drop kit and you won't regret it. Has you truck been converted to discs already? Or is it still drum brakes?

Re: lower standards

Naa, dropped spindles are not a big deal to install. It looks scary if you have never done it but as long as you have the right tools and you secure the springs you're good.

Do you know how the truck was lowered originally? Ex. It may already have dropped springs in it. If you go with an 'even shorter' spring you may have alignment issues start to creep in.

I'd vote dropped spindles, all the way. Is it 5 lug or 6?

Good lookin Stepper!
Later.

Re: lower standards

Re: lower standards

To go with drop spindles, you will need to swap to disc brakes. That's not as bad as it sounds, though. It's actually a pretty simple swap. You can now buy 6-lug kits that even use the earlier ball joints and tie rods, so nothing else has to be changed.

Also, swapping to disc brakes is an invaluable upgrade.

Re: lower standards

Ok a little lag on lowering my truck, I ran into other projects, but at the end of the month I will be purchasing a front disk brake conversion kit with 2.5 in drop spindles, in addition I will buy 2 inch lowering springs, so in total that should be 4.5 in drop in the front and for the back ill have 5 inch drop ( 3 inch drop springs and 2 inch lowering blocks). But I'm thinking that that won't be level and the back will be higher than the front, I have t bout the lowering blocks yet. So are they're any suggestions?

Re: lower standards

Here is my 1969,Static 6/8 drop..... the rear is ECE with the panhardbar and 6'' coil and 2.5 blocks...the front is vintage "Dropshop" a-arms with a 6'' coil....when i had the 17'' on it it was super low ...with the 22'' it raised it up a lot

No, it won't sit level. I did a 3.5/4 the first time I lowered mine and it had a stink bug stance, so I switched to a 5" rear spring. I'd go ahead and get the 6" rear springs while you're ordering.

Now I'm at 4.5" front a 5.75" rear(5" drop coil and .75" block), and it still sits a bit unlevel, but has a nice rake. If I ever change wheels/tires, I'll go ahead and get 6" rear springs.

Here's how mine sits right now.

Put bags in the back as it is super simple and then you can adjust them with a schrader valve to level out the front. Then you can replace the springs with the plate and bags upfront someday.
