A Fram PH30 will also work. There were PH13's and PH30's, one was shorter than the other for clearance on some app's. Also, Wix had three sizes of Chevy oil filters, the shorty, the standard, and one that was about the size of a shorty and standard put together. Can't remember the number though.

How do I know? I cut each filter in half with my special cutter and if the material inside has not collapsed, one can only assume that it was working. Unfortunely, I am too big to be inside the filter while the engine is operating. Been using good old $1.19/quart Napa oil since it was 79 cents and 5000 mile oil changes with no failure and good gas mileage. (Double check the odometer reading on the 88 Silverado in my siganture) Maybe I am lucky?
I've also never had to think about buying a carburetor. Good post. I'm going to Napa to get some oil and I think Wal-Mart is still selling AC Filters....

68LSS1 - - Good points, but I think Champion Labs makes Deutch filters...
