Rearmain
Anyone know how hard to replace rear main in 70 blazer 350,4x4 ?

It's not that bad on a 4x4, since there is no crossmember under the oil pan. It's just a matter of removing the few simple things that may be in the way....and that would depend up which transmission you have (stick or auto). Sometimes the exhaust may be a bit in the way, but usually not. Then it's a simple as dropping the pan and rear main cap. "Rolling" the upper half out and back in is easy. Put the lower half in the cap.....and it all goes back together.

You will have to jack the front of the motor up untill the dizzy hits the fire wall (take off the cap) then unbolt the motor mount and cross member and push it as far forward as you can and I believe its the number 2 cylinder that you put to TDC so the pan will clear the crank.
I just did mine not long ago and that was the issuse I had was the pan catching the crank because the cross member wont not slide far enough forward. I also installed a new oil pump while I had it tore down that far as they are not that much money anyway. Posted via Mobile Device |
