1996 sierra LT1 swap

Hello everyone

I have a 1996 gmc sierra short bed half ton with a 305 in it, I have a low mileage 1997 LT1 out of a camaro, I want to put it in my 96, my plan is to have a custom harness and ecu set up, my questions are...

1. can I use older style headers? the older small block chevy ones... or do they have to be the ones for the LT1?

2. can I use the existing fuel lines and gas pump from the vortec 305?

3. how do I get all of my dashboard gauges working with the new set up?

can anyone help me or direct me to some threads of similar installs? I have looked and have found installs on older trucks not one ones like mine...

Re: 1996 sierra LT1 swap

1. Yes to old style will fit.
2. The existing pump will be fine. Does require some rework of the fuel lines at the engine.
3. Use the sending units off the 305....(Oil & Temp), The LT1 pcm has Tach & VSS outputs to run the Tach & speedo.
