I'm not sure what to do on the rear end of the 79. either thinking porterbuilt trailing arm system or making a four link. what the thought guys?

Porter built four link would be best! Lol. Agood four will hook you turn you and keep your but cozy on the road

Why are you swapping from leafs? Big power or just got an itch???
4-link or triangulated 3-link can be tuned to hook well at the strip and still give a great ride.
But a tuned Cal-Trac setup will do the same thing for a whole lot less work and $$$

The Porterbuilt trailing arm setup is very nice, and should give you a good ride. Are you wanting to keep everything under the bed? How low are you wanting to go?

CPP prototyped its '73-87 Trailing Arm kit on my '79. I put 5,000 or so miles on it right away driving the truck on Americruise. That was back around 2007, and it still rides and handles great. I can tell you, you will sacrifice a little of the truck's ability to haul a heavy load, or do serious heavy towing.

Not a big deal for me, I've got a late model GMC for that stuff.
