Door latch adjustment? Need help adjusting.
I have to really slam my doors to get them to latch fully. What needs to be done for them to close like they should. Door hinges are great with no up and down play and the latches work, like I said, if I slam them.

Guessing you replaced your door seals????
you can try to loosen up your striker plates and move them outward carefully in small amounts. That should help you until your new seals (if any) compress...... It's what I did on mine. |

Re: Door latch adjustment? Need help adjusting.
Actually I didn't replace them. Although on the drivers side I got it to work great. Now the passenger side works and latches fine but I have a 1/4 inch gap to close up. When it's latched it's still 1/4 inch gapping open. I tried to move the striker in very little and then I'm back to slamming it to close.

you prob need to lube the latch, they wont work if they are gummed up w 35 years of grease and dirt, the latch needs to snap quickly as the door is closed

No amount of lubing, adjusting, slamming or cussin' will cure worn out parts. Been there.
You need new latches. Part #7 on here. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cbe/full.aspx?Page=12 |
