Need Tire Size Help!!!
I am doing some work on my freinds truck and one of the things he asked me to do is find a tire size recomendation, he wants something that has an original feel. I was hoping I could get some sugestions from you guys. Here are some pictures of what is on it now. He wants to go a more original style that will fit the Wheel Vinitiques smooties he has already purchaced (15x 7 5-5, 5-1/2 bare 4" B.S.). The tires that are currently on the truck are P295/50/R15 front and back.

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
The distance from rim mounting suface on the front rotors and rear drum to inside edge of the fender lip are 6" both front and back.

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
Here is a link to a chart on tire rack that has the section width, tread width and overall diameter of the bfg's. Other brands should be close to same. I run 255/60r 15 on my 72 with 15x8 rally. With 15x7 a 225 or 235 should be good, I would think. Nice truck.

What do you guys think about 225 70 R15 tires for this application?

235-75-15 all the way around - fills the wheelwell (top-to bottom) and fits on stock wheels. here they are on a 66.

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
Thanks for the picture joko, I am not sure what front end and back axel this has in it let alone its ride height compared to original.
When I pulled her out on level ground and measured from the ground up to bottom of fender wheel well I got these numbers: The fronts are 27-1/2" The backs are 26-1/2" With these measurements do you still think that size of tire will fit?

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
Hard to go wrong with a BF Goodrich Radial T/A in a 255/70r15. Here are mine on wheels with the same width and backspacing as the ones you have. Any narrower of a tire will be swallowed in the wheel well, and any shorter will look like a donut, IMHO.

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
I like the BF TA's as well, that is what I run on my 70.
He is wanting a more old school style tire. Talking to him he wants to have a 1" white wall. He is 50/50 on wether he wants to go white wall or not so I want to find a tire that can go either way.

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
I wanted a nostalgic tire too, so I went with Firestone FR380 (yes the ones that were blowing up a few years back....I think they got that all cleared up now). The ones I have, 215-70-15's might be a bit small for your friends truck, but they've got a great style and old timey look without having to pay big $ for Cokers...and there won't be a name on the side that you can't pronounce. Black wall optional.

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
But I LOVE the way the wheel/tire combo looks on that blue stepper. I guess it depends on how low the truck sits.

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
255/70/15 is my preference. Nice look, not too fat, gives a good fill for the wheel well on most of these trucks.

Re: Need Tire Size Help!!!
I am going to mock up some 235-75 r15's for him on one side of the truck. I think those will look best. Thank you for the pictures guys!
